When you need help in your life or in your relationship you need a counselor who reflects your Christian faith and beliefs.  You should be careful who you trust with your Christian counseling here in the Indianapolis area!

What do you mean by Christian?

• The word “Christian” means a follower of Christ and our Christian counseling reflects that belief.
• The Bible is used in the Christian counseling sessions.  We believe that the Bible is the word of God and is useful in all aspects of life (1 Timothy 3:16).  (We use passages like 1 Corinthians 13 and Ephesians 5 if you are a couple and Romans 12:2 if you are coming in individually, among many others).
• You will learn to grow in your Christian faith and be helped to lead a life that reflects your faith with our Christian counseling.  If you are coming in as a couple I will show you how to make your family be the most spiritually healthy it can be and how to grow within your Indianapolis church.
• We discuss the Biblical responsibilities of a Christian and of a husband and wife.
• We use exceptional assessments in our Christian counseling.  The READY personal assessment tool for individuals and it is used to measure certain aspects of your personality and life.  The PREPARE/ENRICH relationship assessment is used to tell you exactly where your relationship is thriving and where you can improve it.
• You will be given tools and exercises to improve your life and, if you are a couple, how to improve communication, conflict resolution, marital expectations, role expectations, family and friend areas, personality issues, your leisure time together, as well as many other areas.

What to expect in the Christian counseling sessions:

• Call and we will discuss what is best for you and/or for you both as a couple.
• If you are a couple (mainly premarital couples) you may be sent an email and you both will take the PREPARE or the ENRICH inventory online which we will compile when completed.
• A time will be arranged for you or you both to come into our Indianapolis offices, in the Castleton area, for the Christian counseling sessions.
• Paperwork will need to be filled out when you come in.
• Furthermore, in the Christian counseling sessions, you will have the time to discuss what is on your heart and ask questions as far as your life and/or as far as your marriage goes.
• Finally, you can have one session or as many as you like, but the recommended number is about 8 for individuals/couples and 5 to 6 for premarital couples.
• The whole process is very thorough and helpful.

What I offer in my services:

• Education and training in the Bible and how to apply God’s words to your life and relationship.
• A Master of Divinity degree in pastoral care and counseling (in the school of theology) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
• A Master of Arts in marriage and family counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University.
• An ordained Southern Baptist Minister.
• Experience with working in the ministry for several years.
• A Marine veteran of the first Gulf war.
• Currently a marriage and family resident counselor with Groff and Associates, here in Indianapolis.
